Frequently Asked Questions

How do you use CleanMist bathroom tissue spray?

It’s easy to use. Just shake the bottle and spray it a few times on the bathroom tissue before wiping, for a cleaner, fresher feeling.

Who should use CleanMist bathroom tissue spray?

Clean Mist is great for the entire family:
• For that everyday clean, fresh feeling at home, work, and travel
• For kids, help with potty training
• For sensitive bums, a softer way to wipe
• Dependents, elder care

Why is CleanMist bathroom tissue spray better than wipes?

• Won’t clog sewer systems
• Softer than wipes (great for sensitive bums)
• Less wasteful than wipes
• Natural, biodegradable, plant-based ingredients are safe for your body and the earth.
• More convenient and lasts longer than a pack of wipes (2 oz bottle = 450+ sprays!)

Can it be used by people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Yes! People with IBS tell us that CleanMist is softer and more gentle than wipes, and a welcome relief.

Does it break up the bathroom tissue?

No. The fine mist spray ensures that bathroom tissue stays intact.

Is it gentle enough for daily use?

Yes. CleanMist contains natural, plant-based ingredients rated as “low concern” on the Environmental Working Group’s “Skin Deep”® Cosmetics Database. Our formulas are very gentle and dermatologist-tested. We use as many organic ingredients as possible.

Is it safe for sewer and septic systems?

Yes. CleanMist won’t clog sewer systems like wipes. Our ingredients are natural and biodegradable.

What cleansing agents do you use?

We use gentle, natural, biodegradable cleansers like water, soap bark (made from the quillaja saponaria tree), and our scented version also contains decyl glucoside (made from non-GMO coconut and palm).

Is it scented or unscented?

We have both a scented and unscented version.

Is it safe to use the essential oils that are in the scented version?

We use no synthetic fragrances that can irritate skin. Our scented version contains only natural, plant-based essential oils as the fragrance. The concentration of these essential oils is well below the standards set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) for the category that includes intimate wipes and baby wipes. Our formula has been dermatologist tested, and dozens of people have used it with no adverse reaction. However, do not use the scented version if you are sensitive to any of the essential oils in it (lavender, ylang-ylang, and palmarosa). We recommend testing it on a non-sensitive part of the body before use.

Why does CleanMist contain preservatives?

Our formula includes water, which is nature’s most basic cleanser. Any personal care product containing water needs a preservative to prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms. We chose to preserve CleanMist with gluconolactone (made from non-GMO corn) and sodium benzoate, a common food-grade preservative.  This preservative system is approved by EcoCert for organic skin care products, and is used in other natural and organic skincare and baby care products.

Is it safe for pregnant women to use?

We recommend that pregnant women use the unscented version.

Is it antibacterial?

No, that would be too harsh. It is not necessary and could actually upset the delicate balance of healthy, good bacteria in the gut.

What should I do if I or someone I know ingests CleanMist or has a reaction?

Contact your physician, pediatrician, or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. If it’s life-threatening, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
